Update on ICJ Data Governance

Are you passionate about shaping how data is shared and used to improve client outcomes across our community? We’re excited to announce that a few seats are now open for Funded Partners to join the ICJ Data Collaboration Governing Body—and we’d love for you to consider being part of it!

🧭 What is the Governing Body?

The Governing Body is the central decision-making group within the ICJ Governance Framework. Members help guide the direction of the ICJ Tech Tool by defining what data can be shared, who can access it, under what conditions, and for what purposes. It’s a unique opportunity to help shape the future of data collaboration in our region.

🤝 Who Serves on the Governing Body?

The Governing Body is made up of representatives from across the Integrated Client Journey ecosystem—nonprofits and stakeholders who are committed to using data responsibly and effectively. Each organization appoints two staff members (a Voting and a Proxy member) to serve a two-year term, with the option for reappointment.

🛠️ What Will You Do?

As a Governing Body member, you’ll:

• Participate in regular meetings to review and refine the ICJ Data Governance Framework.

• Help define business and technical requirements for the ICJ Tech Tool.

• Join short-term workgroups that make recommendations on key issues.

• Collaborate with peers to ensure data is used ethically, securely, and for the greatest impact.

Update on ICJ Tech Tool

As we approach mid-year, the collaboration between United Way of Greater Houston and the Patient Care Intervention Center to enhance the ICJ Tech Tool continues to evolve with targeted updates that support stronger communication, enhanced data insights, and expanded partnerships. Here’s what’s been accomplished since our last update—and what’s on the horizon.

Notification Enhancements

Keeping users connected remains a key priority, as we develop communication features throughout the platform.

• Bulk Announcements: A new Announcement Feature is rolling out to the ICJ Tech Tool. This enhancement will allow users to send messages in bulk to clients and users across the platform—ideal for important updates, reminders, or outreach campaigns. 

• Coming Soon

  • Bounce-back email alerts will notify multiple admins if contact attempts fail, helping ensure no outreach efforts go unnoticed. 

  • A resource validation reminder will nudge agency admins to review and update their listed services on a regular cadence, supporting accuracy and trust in the ICJ Marketplace.

Metrics & Reporting Improvements

We’ve made progress in expanding reporting tools to better support partner decision-making.

• Navigation and Resource Metrics: Enhanced metrics and reporting tools are now live, offering clearer insights into user activity and referral workflows.

• MCI Reporting & Dashboards: We're actively developing improvements to Master Client Index (MCI) dashboards and reporting, with an eye toward making client-level insights more actionable and accessible. 

Platform Configuration Updates

We’ve made key updates—and more are on the way—to align ICJ with new funding period requirements:

• Completed:

  • The platform has been rebranded with updated United Way logos. 

• In Progress/Upcoming: 

  • Updated Self-Sufficiency and Well-Being (SSWB) forms. 

  • Revised goal templates for clarity and consistency. 

  • Assignment logic enhancements to support more flexible referral workflows. 

System Integration Progress

Our backend development continues to expand data connectivity across platforms and partners.

• In Development: 

  • Backend data pipeline development is underway for Salesforce and ClientTrack systems. 

• Upcoming: 

  • System-level data integrations with the Coalition for the Homeless and Houston Food Bank are moving forward to support broader coordination and reporting. 

  • Integration work will continue in July for all remaining navigation agencies to streamline cross-agency collaboration.

Under the Data Safety Moment, UWGH will highlight cybersecurity, privacy, or data security-related topics to support the safe and secure use of the ICJ Tech Tool.

Think Before You Click

In today’s digital world, one of the simplest yet most effective ways to protect data is to stay alert to phishing attempts. Phishing emails often look legitimate but are designed to trick you into revealing sensitive information or clicking on malicious links.

Here’s how to spot a phishing attempt:

• 🚩 Unexpected requests for passwords or personal information.

• 📧 Email addresses that don’t match the sender’s name or organization.

• 🔗 Links that look suspicious or lead to unfamiliar websites.

• 🕒 Urgent language pressuring you to act quickly.

What to do:

• Never click on links or download attachments from unknown sources.

• Report suspicious emails to your IT or security team.

• When in doubt, verify the request through a trusted channel.

By staying vigilant, we help ensure the safe and secure use of the ICJ Tech Tool and protect the integrity of our shared data.
